It's 1962, and Glasgow is about to bid farewell to its much-loved tram system - they would be withdrawn from service later that year.
These commuters are boarding in Argyle Street - that's the foot of Buchanan Street in the background, with the Art Deco former Burton's store behind the tram.
In all our misty-eyed nostalgia for the trams, we always forget one of their drawbacks; that you had to dodge traffic to get into the middle of the street to climb aboard.
